Farewell, DarkWish

A very disappointing announcement has been made today. Man, I've been saying the word "disappointing" alot today.

DarkWish from Wii Live left the site, and joined WiiNintendo. DarkWish was by far the best poster on the site, and he will be missed.

It will definitely hurt Wii Live now that he is gone. DarkWish is now writing for WiiNintendo.net. So be sure to look for his news on there.

Me and the owner of Wii Live have been doing alot of talking, and you can expect some big changes to come soon.

Where does my loyalty lie?

Many things have been going through my head. Once again, mostly about video games.

I've have been borrowing my friends PS3 for the past week, once again. He beat Metal Gear Solid 4, and because he doesn't really play Metal Gear Online, he brought it over for me to play.

I have to say, the PS3 has been growing on me. It doesn't kill me to say it, but it's awkward. One thing I have been questioning is, where does my loyalty lie in the consoles?

That is the question that kills me. Normally, when I pick a favorite anything, I like to stay loyal to it, and betraying it really doesn't feel right at all. I write for a Nintendo fan site, so it would seem my loyalty stays with Wii. I've always been the most loyal to Nintendo. I owned waaaay more GameCube titles then I did PS2 or Xbox, and yes that is including multi platform titles.

Sometimes I question though, is the Wii not right for me? Yes, I'm saying it. I have questioned my loyalty to Nintendo, as much as it is killing me. Now, I'm not saying that I'm thinking about giving up on Nintendo, but rather shifting more of my loyalty to a console that suits me more.

I would never drop my loyalty to Nintendo, but I have been doing some thinking to give more loyalty too the 360, a console that seems too suit me more. But once again, never will I give up on Nintendo.

Every console has it's flaws, and I love poking fun at them. I of course like to make jokes about the Wii hardware, but at the same time, it makes me mad when people say it's weaker then the PS2. I always enjoy poking fun at the 3FixMe. I don't poke much fun at the PS3 anymore, I just like making fun of Movie Gear Solid 4. Considering the game is only about 5 hours of gameplay and 8 hours of cut scenes.

I can tell that you're going to like this post Trist, and some people might be mad at Wii Live that I have been saying all this. I'm still going to write for Wii Live, and if no one has ever noticed, I have actually been writing for Live-360 for awhile. Well, I don't post there much, but I do have a posting account.

I guarantee once E3 comes, I will likely be an instant loyal Nintendo fan again. But for now, I'm debating everything.

I can also guarantee that I will end up regretting this post!

Sega, are they really trying?

Now isn't that just like me to go and flame a developer as soon as I see the Wii game they are developing?

Obviously, Sonic Unleashed seems to be one of the big titles to look forward too this year. I'm hoping this could be the one game to resurrect the Sonic franchise (yes Trist, I said it.)

With the past console Sonic titles, I'm still weary about this one. Wait, is weary even a word? Am I even using it in the right context?

Well, my point is, I planned on getting the Wii version of this game. I don't care about the superior visuals on the 360, I plan on getting it for Wii. But man, after seeing the first scans of the Wii version of this game, I don't think Sega deserves any of my money.

Project Origin coming to Wii

Strange things are happening in 08. First off, Wii gets a "mature" FPS game, called "The Conduit," then Wii gets the mature ultra comical violent "MadWorld," now, Wii gets Project Origin? Where are these mature titles coming from?

Sure, it doesn't match up to the amount of mature games on 360 or PS3, but hey, they are sure coming at Wii like no tomorrow.

Core, or Casual-Core?

So someone from Nintendo is claiming that they are going to announce several titles for the "core gamer". Now, I must ask, is it in fact for the core gamer, or will be be casual-core?

Now, don't get me wrong, I will always be faithful to Nintendo, but being sarcastic is who I am, and no matter how much I like something, I still enjoy cracking jokes on it.

Nintendo and third party's always like to announce these "hardcore games", but these games always end up being something that is hardcore, but they still want to attract casual gamers. As happy as I was to here Nintendo is going to announce several hardcore games at E3, I know that this hardcore games will be casualized, somehow. Whether it's how the game looks, or a mini game mode, I know it's going to happen.

If Kid Icarus is announced, which I am sure it will be, I'm sure it's going to be a hardcore game, but Nintendo is still going to try and attract the casual audience.

If there is one thing I can't wait for, it's to see how good Kid Icarus looks. I'm pretty sure Factor 5 is developing it, and even if they somehow are not, Nintendo is going to make this one good looking game.

Screens don't do games justice... but The Conduit still wows me

Normally, I like to agree with the old saying that screen shots don't do video games justice in the visual department. But somehow, I said "wow" to these new screen shots of The Conduit.

Nintendo Wii Fanboy got some exclusive screen shots for The Conduit. Those lucky bastards, I emailed them when The Conduit was announced, and I don't think I'm even added to their press list yet! I guess I could keep emailing, or maybe give them a call or something, seeing as their site doesn't look like it's been updated in awhile.

Well, here is one screen I said wow too.

I actually think that looks really good, and even some of my friends said it looked pretty good, and most of them own a PS3...

Yet another screen that I thought looked good, and one my friend said looked great. Yes, a PS3 owner said it looked great.

You really can't say this isn't a good looking game. Especially considering it's the Wii hardware.

Be more constructive with your feedback

Once again, the re-design for Wii Live is up, and I'm extremely happy with it. It also seems we have some new readers.

The site is in fact growing bigger. We are posting more original articles, which really helps. Hey Trist, when is the next Breakfast Munch coming? It's a real good article series, so keep it up.

Anyways, I'd like to introduce you to one of the coolest folk comedy bands out there. Flight Of The Conchords. They're from New Zealand, they have a few albums out, and even a show on HBO.

It's just two guys who both play guitar, sometimes one plays bass, and most of there recorded stuff has other instruments.

I can't find the one song I wanted to post up here. Well, I don't like to post up download links cause I know that can be annoying for some people. I normally just post up songs that stream off a site for free, but I can't find the specific song. So if you actually want to listen to them, just do whatever you do to get music.

The fly you bring me

If you ever have been wondering, the titles to my blog posts have mostly been lyrics to some of my favorite songs.

The site re-design for Wii Live is officially up! We still need to mess with a few things here and there, but the main re-design is up, and I hope everyone likes it!

Now that the re-design is finally up, you can look forward to Wii Live being better then ever. We have been posting much more often then usual, and you can look forward to more tournaments, more give aways, and just more everything!

Conversations Kill

Capcoms CAPTIVATE 08 embargo is lifted later today.... Please God let there be a quality title coming to Wii.

And if that doesn't satisfy you, more of my Ubisoft hating should. This is directly from an article I posted on Wii Live...

A little late on this one, but I just can’t help but post this. Especially after all the stuff I wrote up hating on Ubisoft.

So like Nintendo fans like myself and all you readers, all this complaining and disappointment about Ubisofts Wii support was taken over to the Ubisoft Forums. From what I read of the thread, it was a very heated discussion. A Ubisoft forum moderator decided to jump in and explain why Ubisofts Wii support sucks. And no, the mod did not actually say what was in the title of this post.

“If you look at the most successful Wii games, they are not amazing new AAA games, they are predominantly family-orientated games/alternative games,” explained Raide, adding that Ubisoft is pursuing the casual dollar because “parents who are buying a console for their children do not really care about Prince of Persia, Rainbow Six or Far Cry on the box.”

Now don’t get me wrong, I know what sells and what doesn’t sell on Wii. But if you are going to just completely flood Nintendo’s system with this trash cash games, the least you would do is use the money you make from those games to develop ONE quality hardcore Wii title, instead of using that money to create 5 more games for the already hardcore 360.

It really doesn’t help that Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft stated they will start bringing Nintendo-like quality titles to Wii. I don’t even think Nintendo has stooped low enough to bring us a game as bad as Imagine Babyz. Before, all I wanted from Ubisoft was Red Steel 2. Now, after this crap, and not fulfilling the promise of Nintendo-like quality games, they need to throw out way more then just Red Steel 2 to get any Nintendo fans respect back.
