Developers stepping it up for Wii?

For those who don't know, I write up some editorials every now and then that I like to call, The Wicked Garden. It's named after a song written by Stone Temple Pilots. Most of the time it is either looking into the future of Nintendo, or complaining about their progress. This week is about Developers stepping it up for Wii. Here is a little taste of it.

A lot of gamers don’t care for Wii because of graphical power, and online capability’s. But will the efforts of third party developers stepping things up change those thoughts?

When the specifications for Wii, at the time Revolution, were revealed, many gamers were disappointed by the supposable “GameCube 2,5″ graphics chip, and most still are to this day. Because of this, many developers are not treating the Wii as a current generation console. Thats not all. Many gamers were also disappointed when it was announced that Wii would use friend codes. Since then, it seems that only Nintendo has been able to use the advantages to Wii’s graphical capability’s, and Wii’s online. But that seems to be changing.

Blast Works - I'm suddenly very interested

Now, don't get me wrong, I have seen Blast Works before, and I thought it looked pretty cool. But, it wasn't anything I was really looking forward too. Now, I have more interest in this game after reading this interview.

One of the first games not published or developed by EA to work around friend codes. I see a brighter future.

I could barely believe the title of the story itself. A developer is impressed by Wii's online capability's? I thought, how can a third party be impressed by friend codes, and limited communication?-Wow. See what the PS3 does to you? It turns you into a hater. Don't be a hater.

But honestly, a third party dev impressed? Well, I guess the only reason they are impressed it because they convinced Nintendo to somehow let them work around friend codes.

Now, Majesco doesn't have the best history of recent developed titles. They did the critically mixed reviewed Cooking Mama, Bust-A-Move, and Wild Earth: African Safari. So lets hope Blast Works will be their first good Wii game.

I have seen developers really stepping it up for Wii lately. High Voltage will hopefully be setting a new bar for Wii graphics with The Conduit, and hopefully Factor 5's title will do the same. Apparently, Mario Kart Wii will be stepping it up with online play, and Blast Works will be stepping it up with user-generated content, and will work around friend codes! Once again, I see a much brighter future.

The demons have let go, but the contraption hasn't.

Alright, so, I will admit I'm fairly interested in the PS3 now, for one reason. Unreal Tournament 3, which is coming to 360 in about a month or so.

Well, my brother actually bought a 60GB PS3 about a month after launch. After he moved out of his apartment, he kept a lot of his stuff in a storage room. He brought his 360, and his Wii back home, but left the PS3 in the storage room. Wonder why? [/pwnage]

Well, after my friend let me borrow his PS3, it was basically my time to spend as much time on it to decide if purchasing one would be a good idea. I played it a lot of features and such, but really only played UT3. I decided that maybe instead of buying one, my brother would basically give me his, cause he never uses it.

I go to get it out of the storage room, and the gate to access the storage room is jammed. Of course. So I have to go back tomorrow. Well, look on the bright side, the recovery discs for my laptop came in today! Wait a minute....why do these not work?

Apparently, my other bro told me that I was sent the wrong discs. Today, so far, blows. [/complaining]

Podcast #16: The End....NOT

Yeah, Podcast 16 is on the site, and is available to listen too. I say it's a pretty good podcast to start off the summer, because we will likely not record them weekly anymore until the end of the summer.

Ze podcast! Zit is finished! - Stuff everyone needs to check out.

How's it goin' everyone?

Well, as of a couple of hours ago, Wii Live recorded what might be the last podcast for awhile. Most of the writers are going on summer brake, and will still post news as usual, but some writers may not be able to attend podcasts. Of course, there will be an occasional podcast here and there, but don't expect them wii-kly. Sorry, I had to do it.

This podcasts consist of DarkWish, Trist, and two of their roommates dropped in to drop their opinions and such. I have to say, I think it was a great podcast, and it was a good podcast to start off the summer. It should be posted up later today to listen to, so look forward to that.

Here are a few things I must leave any readers with.

I'm going to say this right now. This might be the best internet flash game I have ever played. It is so simple, yet just so entertaining. It's called Magic Pen, and all you do is mess with what is the incredible fun of physics, if thats what it is.

Lemme say, I really don't care for South Park. Yes, it is funny, but hearing endless quotes from the show by you're friends can seriously give you some hate towards the show. Sometimes, I will watch some of the new episodes offline, but not too often.

This, on the other hand, could be one of the funniest things I have ever seen from South Park. It has been stuck in my head all day, and I can't stop laughing about it.

Look at da pretty ladies - More podcastin'

2 day's ago, I had a buddy who decided to look at some pretty ladies on the internet. Yeah, you know what happened. Well to make it short, in a matter of minutes, I was attacked by a Trojan Virus. Thankfully, I bought a 120GB external hard drive awhile ago, and I pretty much keep all my files on it. So, I had to order the restoration discs which should be here in who knows how long. And once they arrive, my laptop should be good again. For now, I'm using by brothers laptop, which is the same as mine, except he never uses it.

So tomorrow night/later tonight, we are recording Wii Live podcast #16. If you got any questions for us to answer, post them here, or on the Wii Live Forums.

Wish me luck on saving my laptop.

The Breakfast Munch - Trade-Ins

Our good friend Trist over at Wii Live has started an article series of his own, and an extremely interesting one, might I say.

It's called "The Breakfast Munch", as you can see. A very interesting title, with a very tasty banner (literally). The first Breakfast Munch is about Trading in game's to retailers such as GameStop and EB Game's. I have to say I strongly agree with Trist about trading in games, and it's a great article.
