TGC 360 Podcast #0

It's been awhile since I've posted, but I figured I should be updating all of my blogs now (blogger, giant bomb, gamespot.) I don't know why I have so many. It's not like many people read them.

Anyways, here is The Gamers Cafe 360 Podcast #0

TGC Podcast

So hopefully The Gamers Cafe will start running up some podcast's, primarily 360 and Wii ones, but I would be happy to do a PS3 one if anyone else wanted to do one.

I made a guest appearance on Wii Nintendo's new podcast The Wii-kly Fuse. Sadly, I didn't stay for the whole thing, but I'm glad I actually made an appearance on it. You can listen to it here.

So far I have the TGC Nintendo podcast scheduled for Thursday night at around 9 or 10. Hopefully some interesting news will pop up before then. Well, PAX is starting soon. Actually I think it's starting today, so that should bring up some cool topics.

And STP is a no show

So for the past month or two, I saw that Stone Temple Pilots, a 90's rock band, was reuniting for the first time in seven years, and were coming to play live at a town near me.

They were going to perform at the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa, FL August 22nd. Tampa is only a two hour drive from where I live, so I was obviously down for this show since it was announced.

They had a show in Orlando Tuesday night that was canceled do to the so called "hurricane". But they were able to perform in Hollywood, FL Wednesday night. They were not performing anywhere Thursday, and were going to perform in Tampa, the show I was going to, Friday. Now, they had about two days to make it from Hollywood FL to Tampa. An easy four hour drive.

Earlier today, well yesterday now, I got to the Ford Apmhitheatre around 7 o' clock. The opening band stopped playing around 8. So I wait for the main act, Stone Temple Pilots, which I expected to start around 9:15 because of all the equipment set up and such.

Time goes by as I anticipate how awesome this show is going to be. Stone Temple Pilots is probably my favorite band of all time, so obviously I am very excited for this show.

As we wait, people in General Admission would cheer after any song they play on the radio which setting up gear ends, hoping that maybe since that song ended the band was coming out. After waiting for two hours for the band, fans began booing after the songs ended. At around 10:15, almost two and a half hours of waiting, someone came up to us and said that the show was a no go. I thought almost everyone there was completely wasted, so they didn't know what they were talking about.

Turns out it was true. A staff member came up and said that the show was not happening, and that the band was still in Fort Lauderdale, by Hollywood.

Fans were mad. Most people sat through an opening band they didn't even like, and afterwords waited 2 and a half hours to find out that the band wasn't playing. Everybody there was screaming boo, and constant remarks about the bands lead vocalists drug problems, saying how he broke up the band once before, and he'll do it again.

The band never left Fort Lauderdale. So why did the crew set up there gear- which made it to Tampa without them- and not tell us they weren't coming and make us wait two and a half hours?

I'm still furious about the whole thing. I finally get to see my favorite band of all time, and this happens? I expected a riot when this was announced!

News has been slower then ever.

On the Wii side of things, news really couldn't be much slower. I didn't even bother listening to the Nintendo Voice Chat podcast because the topics looked boring.

We have barely any news on any Wii game I'm interested in. Overlord looks decent, but I just hope it doesn't turn out to be crap.

The best latest bit of news there is really is that Disaster is still alive. Other then that, there has been nothing at all.

Nintendo has been completely quite on almost everything. Not even giving us any bits on the titles they have already announced like Animal Crossing or Wii Sports Resort.

Why would Nintendo not be talking about games? Because they are to busy working on there next console.

We all know it's coming, and I can't wait for it.

Some times I ask myself. Do I hate Wii? I mean, I love Nintendo, always will, but do I hate the Wii? Maybe I don't hate the console because of the console, but because no one wants to support it. I like the controller, I like the games, but really it gets no core support. Which is exactly why I'm excited for Nintendo's next console. It's definitely going to have a Wii Remote, but it's going to be much more up to date with tech, so we will be able to get to play this next gen games that are only on 360 and PS3 with Wii remote controls.

Maybe I should stop drinking so much Hatorade.

By the way, as I write this Hurricane Fay is coming straight towards my area. I believe to many people are making a big deal out of this yet to be category one hurricane. I've been through Charlie, and Wilma, which were category 4's, and they didn't do that much damage.

Hopefully the power doesn't go out. Well, God bless!

And now it's in production?

All I can think about is the next Nintendo console. I know Wii is only a year and a half into it's life span, but I want to hear more about Nintendo's newest console.

At this point, I'm just becoming a biased graphics whore. As fun as Wii is, it really has become a sudden waggle fest for me. Which is why I'm excited for Wii MotionPlus. MotionPlus is the true next gen jump for game control. And to be honest, it's the tech the Wii Remote should have had in the first place. It's weird, because games like Wii Sports have shown off that you can get 1:1 controls, with Wii Sports Baseball, and Wii Sports Golf. But can 1:1 control finally be more common?

Iwata has had a lot to say on the new Nintendo console. Saying it may not be as revolutionary as Wii was, which I'm fine with. As long as it is up to par in terms of tech. He also said it would be something like a box people would use to play games. And what is the Wii and 360 and PS3? Scratch that, the PS3 is a Blu Ray player. Just kidding.

Wii Motion Plus could finally be the true core change for Wii. It could really be the hardware to create much more core appeal. When Wii was first announce, the people who hate it now thought it looked pretty cool and could change gaming. But after everyone got there hands on it, it turned out to be nothing but waggle, and something that only casuals really enjoy.

Now I feel bad I just typed a whole article just bashing Wii. My point is, maybe the Wii remote was a semi flop, but Motion Plus is going to change EVERYTHING.

Here is a video that changed me into a hater/believer.

I told you so

Remember my last blog post? How I said that I know everyone is working on there next console? Well, I knew Nintendo is working on their next console, and now Iwata has just confirmed it.

I through in some of my thoughts on the next Nintendo console in the article too.

Wii's tech is very far behind the 360 and PS3. And after seeing some consumers complain about that, and truly seeing we are in a High Definition era, I would not be surprised if Nintendo released there next console early to keep up with competition.

Iwata himself said once before depending on consumer response, the next Nintendo console will have complete full HD support, and likely sport the same tech as the competitors. I know I'm sounding like a complete graphics whore here, but it just sucks that no one will really take Nintendo seriously unless they have a powerful machine.

The next generation

My recent blog posts have really been showing me losing my faith in Nintendo. Of course, I always love looking at games like The Conduit and MadWorld, just to bring back my faith in Wii. And it's always good when Miyamoto confirms Mario and Zelda for Wii.

I know everyone says "it's waaay to early." But I can seriously not wait till Nintendo announces their next console. Why? Because I know it had to be incredble. Nintendo is finally getting into the console war with voice chat and online games and such, but I know that the next console will have everything.

Graphics? I don't think the 360 or PS3 could, nor should go any further they where they are in terms or visuals. I feel it's getting to the point to where games do look good, but where almost to the point to where they look too good.

I know Wii 2, or whatever new name they come up with, needs to be at least as strong as the PS3. Nintendo knows that we are in the HD era, so they will definitely try and push the limits for there console. Plus, we already know they are working on there next console.

Every company starts working on there next console almost right after there current console released. We know Microsoft is working on a new Xbox. Nintendo said they wanted to be the first in the next generation with an early console, which obviously means they are working on a new console. Sony? To be quite honest, I don't know. They are seriously going for that "10 year plan." So they may not be working on there next console yet, but they should be soon.
